NEW DELHI: Global Jamia Alumni Network, Jamia Millia Islamia, a central university, based in Delhi has conferred its first Alumni Award in a glittering function on the university campus to some of its distinguished Alumnus. For contribution in literature and media, Mohammad Aleem, (Chief News Editor of ICN Group) has been awarded “Distinguished Alumni Award” in recognition of his outstanding accomplishment in the field of literature.
Mohammad Aleem is a Sanskriti Award winning writer and Senior Fellow of Ministry of Culture of Govt. of India. Among other noted awardees in different fields were Anjana Om Kashyap, (Aaj Tak), Amit Dutt, scientist (A Bhatnagar awardee), Hanif Quraishi, IPS (Commissioner of Police, Faridabad) and others.
Honorable Vice Chancellor (a noted Geologist), Prof. Talat Ahmad gave the awards to the distinguished alumni in a glittering function. He also spoke at length about the latest achievements of the university under his stewardship since the last three years and a half. He also expressed hope that the university will keep achieving new goals in the field of academic excellence.
He said that his prime aim is to see Jamia as one of the most respected and known universities of the country. It is his initiative that the university has started its first officially recognized Global Jamia Alumni Network to bring thousands and thousands of the Jamia Alumnus scattered all over the world on one single platform, so they could not get share their views and concerns but also could contribute in making their alma mater a great abode of learning.
Many Jamia alumni are contributing in their own unique ways. Some have started scholarships and some have contributed in other ways.
The function was duly graced by other senior university officials, teachers and students.
